Jerusalem YMCA spinning classes are intense, fun & challenging.
Twice a week a group of women meet at the YMCA to exert themselves in our indoor cycling class. Last week the Tuesday morning class decided to take spin class outside. The instructors Lara and Rena met their students at the new train station, and the whole group took the bike path and rode out to Teddy Stadium and back. Everyone had a blast! The participants all agreed that we need to do this more often.
Indoor cycling is a great way to increase energy, and enhance cardiovascular fitness and lower body strength. Depending on how fast you pedal and the amount of resistance you have on the bike, your heart and lungs will benefit, as well as your gluteus maximus, hamstrings and quadriceps.
Indoor cycling also helps burn fat and calories in a strict time regimented manner. In a 60-minute class, you have the potential to burn 500 – 700 calories.
Many of the women who take this class don’t get a chance to actually ride outside, but they are in very good shape from years of biking indoors. We thought it would be fun to give them a change of scenery and take them for a ride around Jerusalem. We rented bikes at the train station and set out together riding the bike trail to Malcha and back. The women had a fantastic time. It was fun to bike outside, and as mentioned, we decided to do it again soon.
We have a Twice Weekly Morning Women’s Only Indoor Cycling class that meets on Sundays at 10:00 am and on Tuesdays at 9:00 am.
