Fatima-Azahraa Haddad is a 22-year-old emerging artist from Jerusalem. She is a medical student by day and an artist by night. In her works she mainly uses watercolors due to its calming transparent character and ease of use, which come in handy with her busy life as a medical student. She has exhibited her works regionally in four group exhibitions held in Institut Français de Jérusalem, Dar Issaf Nasahshibi, El-Hakawati in Jerusalem and Dar Al-Kalima in Bethlehem. She has had a keen interest in art since her early years. Infact, her talent was discovered when she was a child in YMCA’s kindergarden. Her very first “exhibition” was in YMCA as well, when teachers arranged her paintings on a show wall in the class as a 4th-birthday party surprise! The journey continued as she took art classes in school and attended painting courses at university as well.
Through my eyes: We often get distracted by the urban city life and forget to appreciate the magical beauty of simple things around us. Through the journey of wandering with my camera and watercolour set, I came to see beauty I never noticed before. I paint things that I find beautiful, scenes I find peaceful and calming. Some of the paintings were painted on site and some in studio. “Through my eyes” is my first solo exhibition showing those paintings. The more I painted the more I came to view the world differently, more beautifully and more gratefully. I wish to bring those feelings to you!
