An exhibition featuring Roni Fahima’s illustrations for the bilingual edition of the book “The Children Laugh” by Syrian writer Zakaria Tamer. “One of the most important writers of the Arab world in the genre of short stories and children’s literature” (from the cover of the book edited by Shoham Smit).
Fahima’s illustrations are both thoughtful and calculated while full of the grace and warmth of children’s drawings. As if integrated and aware of the landscape and not separated from it, the show will be displayed on the pillars of the Arcade behind the beautiful YMCA building, a place dedicated to the three monotheistic religions, creating an island of political moderation, equality and transparency. In addition, on Sunday, 8.7, at 20:30, there will be a lecture by Dr. Alon Pergaman, the book’s translator, on the socio-political background when the book was written in Syria.
